Naturalist sharing what’s in nature center’s freezer Sunday

Jan 04, 2018

“What’s in the Freezer?” will be presented from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson County Park Nature Center.

Throughout the year, Naturalist Therese Cummiskey collects a variety of deceased animals that might eventually find their way to a taxidermist and then into a nature center display, and, according to Cummiskey, that’s why you never know what you’re going to find next to the ice cream bars in the freezer at the nature center!

“Is this a weird subject for a class? You bet!” said Cummiskey. But, she continued, those who love learning about nature, will be able to see things up close and personal.

Attendees can see what Cummiskey has collected this past year and learn about the adaptations of some of Iowa’s animal species.

No registration is required to attend the program.
