Fairfield Police Lt. Colin Smith stands by the department’s newest patrol vehicle, a 2014 Ford Interceptor, purchased at Fesler Auto Mall in Fairfield. This white SUV also has the department’s new decal in black, white and gray, replacing the blue and white logo on the sedans. Police Chief Julie Harvey said the SUV will be outfitted with low-profile police lights and the Ford Interceptor was chosen for its roomy interior and ease of navigation in narrow places. The department would like to replace its sedan vehicles with SUVs and vehicles are rotated out of use, about every three years. The logo also includes the Fairfield city shield.
