Noah’s Ark receives grant to fund spaying cats

Aug 16, 2013

Noah’s Ark Animal Foundation has received a grant of $875 from The Miccio Foundation of Iowa City.

The funds will be used to spay outdoor female cats through the “Beat the Heat” program offered by the Caring Community Spay Neuter Assistance Program.

A female cat spay and FVRCP vaccination is available for $25. The cost of the services typically ranges from $80 to $125 or more.

To take advantage of this offer, call Fairfield Animal Hospital at 472-6983 and schedule an appointment, asking for the special rate.

Cats should be 5 months old or older.

Fixing female cats will prevent litters. Without these preventative programs, Noah’s Ark can have a waiting list of up to 250 cats that need homes. Fixing females before they start having litters can reduce the number of homeless cats in the community.

CCSNAP also provides vouchers for surgeries for male cats and dogs. Call 469-2015 for information. Income restrictions apply.

Donations to help provide more families with CCSNAP discount vouchers are tax deductible. Send donations to Noah’s Ark/CCSNAP, PO Box 748, Fairfield 52556.
