Open letter

Jun 02, 2014

Parsons College alumnus David Neff has written an open letter to Parsons College graduates and citizens of Fairfield, and Jefferson and surrounding counties:

The Barhydt window installation is complete and now is the time to illuminate the angels and the window. Take a moment, close your eyes, think back to your evening walks across our campus. If you remember walking near the chapel, in the evening, then you know exactly how the angels shined for all to see. Will you help us make the angels shine and create new memories for us, our kids and the Fairfield community?   This illumination will be installed and ready for dedication by October’s Parsons College Wall of Honor ceremony.

You can make this happen; be a part of something that honors the Parsons name and cements us in the Fairfield community for generations to come.

The lighting will be from both the inside and outside so the viewing after dark can be enjoyed by all patrons of the center and the community.

This project is under the direction of MUSCO Lighting of Oskaloosa, a nationally recognized firm.

Any amount of support for the Barhydt Society Window Restoration project is very much appreciated and will be recognized at the dedication in October. Gifts of $500 or more will be recognized permanently on an appreciation plaque that will be designed by one of our very own, Suzan Kessel, and hung in the Parsons Alumni Hall for all to see. Your gift is tax deductible as the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center is a 501©3 non-profit entity.

Help us in illuminating the angels in the Barhydt window and show your alumni

support in Phase III of the window celebration.  This dedication of light will help the entire City of Fairfield to be proud of the Parsons College heritage, which still lives on today. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to complete the illumination project. Initial donations were received at the 2013 Parsons College Reunion Weekend last October.

Send donations directly to the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center,

200 N. Main Street, Fairfield 52556; Attention: Director of Development. Checks should be made payable to: Fairfield Arts & Convention Center – Barhydt Window Project.
