Operation Backpack out to ‘Stuff the Bus’

Aug 14, 2014

Operation Backpack organizers are having a new, one-day event to “Stuff the Bus” and gather school supplies for Fairfield students from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 22 at Fairfield High School.

Organizer Tara Johnson said the most-needed supplies are backpacks, Clorox disinfectant wipes, Kleenex facial tissues, Expo dry-erase markers and glue sticks.

Johnson said supplies needed for FHS students include: No. 2 pencils, blue or black ink pens, spiral notebooks and folders.

The supplies for Fairfield Middle School students include: No. 2 pencils, blue or black ink pens, spiral notebooks, folders, Crayola crayons, Elmer’s glue, glue sticks, rulers, pencil pouches and plastic pencil boxes.

Supplies for Fairfield elementary school students include: No. 2 pencils, crayons, glue sticks, pencil boxes, scissors, erasers, Expo markers, folders, Kleenex facial tissue, Clorox wipes and Germ-X hand sanitizer.

Johnson, a secretary at FHS, started Operation Backpack in 2012 to help supply backpacks and school supplies to students in need.

The backpacks and supplies will be distributed to the schools for students prior to the first day of school Sept. 2.

“Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated,” said Johnson.

For additional information, contact Johnson by calling the high school at 472-2059 or emailing tara.johnson@fairfieldsfuture.org.
