Pekin, Cardinal wrestlers compete in West Burlington

The Pekin and Cardinal wrestling teams competed at a tournament Friday in West Burlington.

West Burlington Notre Dame defeated Pekin 60-18. Tyler Copeland (160) and Clayton McKim (106) each won by pin. Michael Hadley (285) won his match by forfeit.

McKim was the only Panther to win over Louisa-Muscatine. He pinned his opponent just 22 seconds into the match. Trenton Conger (220) won over Jesse Belba of Keokuk by pin at the 2:16 mark.

Pekin lost to Durant 54-11, with Conger and Hadley both winning their matches.

Pekin also lost to Cardinal by the score of 36-15. Copeland fell to Cardinal’s Tyler Albert by pin at 3:32. McKim won by decision over Drayton Hamm. The rest of the match was decided by forfeits.

Cardinal was unable to pick up an additional team victory. Hamm and Mario Rayos (120) each won by forfeit over Durant. Ryan Cale (113) and Jacob Bonner (195) both won by pin.

Cale and Josh Ramos (195) both won over Keokuk. Ramos, Bonner and Hamm each won by forfeit over West Burlington Notre Dame. Cale, Albert and Bryce Benedict (120) each won by pin.

Pekin and Cardinal both compete Thursday in Davis County.
