In the final game of the jamboree, Pekin played host to fellow SEISC member Cardinal.

The Panthers led 21-5 after one quarter and Coach Davis Eidahl was pretty happy with what he saw.

“I was wanting the girls to start off not looking sloppy and to play with some intensity,” said Pekin’s coach. “Regardless of who you play, you have to play hard and think, and I think we did a decent job of that tonight. We were missing one of our top players, but that gave some other players a chance to get some experience.”

First year head man for the Comets is Jacob Blumer, who admitted that his team is trying to mold their young identity on stopping opponents before worrying about who’s going to score.

“Our emphasis has been defense. We haven’t worked on offense very much for as young as we are. I thought towards the end of the first quarter, we did OK.

It took us a while to get into a groove; I think a lot of the young kids had some butterflies, but we did alright.”

The second of two quarters was closer in comparison with Pekin winning the period 14-3 for a 35-8 final in front of their home crowd.
