Pekin volleyball wins while Cardinal and Van Buren fall

The Pekin volleyball team defeated Louisa-Muscatine 25-14, 25-20, 25-13 Tuesday.

Beth Atwood led the team in kills with 12 and two blocks.

Madelyn Baker went 15-16 serving and recorded five aces. She also made two kills. Whitney Horras helped the team with 14 passes. Tiana Slaney and Peyton Atwood each had three kills.

Cardinal lost to Burlington Notre Dame 21-25, 17-25, 25-16, 28-30 on Tuesday.

Amy Hart finished with 25 digs and 12 kills. Leea Ostrander provided 24 digs. She went 16-18 serving with two aces and hammered seven kills. Shelby Smith dished out 14 assists. Dakota Durflinger had nine kills of her own. Cassidy McMartin connected on 12 of 13 serves, three of them aces. McMartin totaled five blocks as well.

Van Buren lost to Central Lee 22-25, 16-25, 15-25 Tuesday in Keosauqua.

Nicole Coffin went 13-15 serving with five aces. Coffin also came through with six kills. Libby King had 10 assists and didn’t miss any of her seven serves. Courtney Hervey provided 10 digs. Alicia Fitzsimmons was 7 of 8 serving.
