Standout Pekin senior Maci Gambell was a second team selection to the 2018 girl’s high school basketball Class 2A all-state team Monday.

Gambell is not only an active member of the Panther community, but she has compiled an all-time career stat line.

The future member of the Central Lady Dutch basketball team scored 1,422 points in her high school career as a four-year player while shooting at least 47 percent from the field each season, including 59 percent as a junior. She grabbed 602 total rebounds, made 180 assists, blocked 97 shots and swiped 219 steals. With the exceptions of assists and steals as a freshman, Maci was in the top three in each of those five listed categories each of her four seasons, including leading the team in those categores eight times in 20 opportunities.

It should also be mentioned that the Panthers record over Gambell’s four years on the team was 82-12 and while she wasn’t the sole reason for Pekins’ success, it definitely wasn’t a coincidence either,
