Pentagon may scale back drones

Feb 11, 2013

LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. — The Pentagon for the first time is considering scaling back the massive build-up of drones it oversaw the last few years, both to save money and to adapt to new areas of operation — such as east Asia — where they could be detected or shot down.

The downsizing would not affect the current CIA drone campaign against terror suspects in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and elsewhere.
