The Fairfield Police report the following logged into dispatch:

 

Tuesday

9:40 a.m. — A vehicle was stopped at Fourth and Madison for speeding. A verbal warning was issued.

9:48 a.m. — Word of Life Lutheran Church requested a funeral escort.

11:21 a.m. — Warrant service was performed at Jefferson County Public Health.

11:21 a.m. — A dump site was reported in the 600 block of West Jackson.

11:37 p.m. — A welfare check was performed in the 800 block of West Washington.

1:29 p.m. — Suspicious behavior was reported at Fairfield Hy-Vee.

2:23 p.m. — Heath Leonard Hand Jr., 26, of Mediapolis, was arrested in the 1200 block of West Grimes. He was charged with driving while suspended, revoked, canceled or denied.

3:15 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped at Seventh and Tyler for speeding. A verbal warning was issued.

3:44 p.m. — Elderly abuse was reported in the 400 block of South Highland.

4:32 p.m. — An alarm at Airgas USA sounded.

5:33 p.m. — Loud music at Tony’s Turbo Wash was reported.

6:07 p.m. — Richard Claude Scaggs, 24, of Fairfield, was arrested at Walmart and charged with 15 counts of fifth-degree theft.

7:04 p.m. — A welfare check was performed in the 500 block of South Sixth.

11:46 p.m. — Loud music in the 900 block of West Tyler was reported.

Wednesday

12:01 a.m. — A welfare check was performed in the 500 block of South Sixth.

12:28 a.m. — A building check was done at Sinclair Tractor.

1:29 a.m. — A deer carcass was removed from Highway 1 near the Maharishi University of Management campus.

2:30 a.m. — A building check was done at La Hacienda.

8:57 a.m. — A citizen misdialed 911.

8:59 a.m. — A vehicle was stopped at Sixth and Washington for speeding. A verbal warning was issued.

9:19 a.m. — Police assisted the ambulance in the 600 block of West Monroe.

9:19 a.m. — Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office advised of a missing person.

9:56 a.m. — Behner Funeral Home requested a funeral escort.

10:44 a.m. — A citizen misdialed 911.

11:40 a.m. — Police assisted the ambulance at Hy-Vee.

12:35 p.m. — Police investigated a theft in the 600 block of South Main.

12:37 p.m. — Theft was reported at Walmart.

3:24 p.m. — A welfare checked was performed in the 800 block of West Washington.

3:31 p.m. — Ottumwa Police Department advised of a missing person.

3:45 p.m. — Police investigated theft at North Bay Apartments.

3:52 p.m. — A traffic accident was reported at Hy-Vee Gas.

5:07 p.m. — Vandalism was reported at North Bay Apartments.

5:35 p.m. — Police investigated burglary/breaking and entering in the 300 block of West Washington.

5:37 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped at Main and Adams for not having its headlights on. A verbal warning was issued.

5:42 p.m. — Police assisted the sheriff’s office at 22nd Street and Burlington.

6:22 p.m. — Suspicious activity was reported in the 1300 block of South Main.

7:20 p.m. — A lost and found item was reported at Thai Deli.

8:33 p.m. — Loud music was reported in the 100 block of South 23rd Street.

8:53 p.m. — A verbal warning was issued for a traffic violation in the 1100 block of North Fourth.

9:01 p.m. — A verbal warning was issued for a traffic violation at 15th Street and Jefferson.

10:30 p.m. — A suspicious person in the 900 block of West Tyler was reported.

10:38 p.m. — Warrant service was performed in the 300 block of North Court.

Thursday

1:30 a.m. — A citizen misdialed 911.

 

Sheriff

Monday

6:10 p.m. — A 2014 Ford Focus driven east on Highway 34 by Carla Ann Stanzyk, 51, of Colfax, stuck a deer at the 217 mile marker. Estimated damage was $10,000.
