POLICE

The Fairfield Police Department reports the following logged into dispatch:

 

Thursday

10:42 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped on West Burlington for a broken brake light and a verbal warning was issued.

10:59 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped at C and Burlington for a broken brake light and a verbal warning was issued.

11:10 p.m. — A verbal warning was issued for taillight out on North B.

11:39 p.m. — Police assisted the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.

 

Friday

12:06 a.m. — An officer checked Fairfield Middle School. The building was cleared and the door was secured.

7:26 a.m. — A vehicle was stopped at Seventh and Jackson and a verbal warning was issued for expired plates.

8:03 a.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

8:16 a.m. — Traffic violations were reported.

8:24 a.m. — Suspicious activity in the 400 block of West Washington was reported.

8:25 a.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

9:01 a.m. — An individual in the 500 block of East Fillmore asked to speak with an officer about a civil dispute.

9:22 a.m. — Chad Kenneth Pepper, 42, of Washington, Iowa, was arrested and charged with fifth-degree theft at the Fairfield Walmart.

9:22 a.m. — Suspicious activity was reported in the 800 block of Highland.

9:39 a.m. — Larceny theft was reported in the 1100 block of Brookville Road.

11:56 a.m. — Suspicious activity was reported near Chautauqua Park.

1:51 p.m. — A controlled substance was reported at Lantern Park Apartments.

2:07 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped in the 1700 block of South Main for having an obstructed plate. A verbal warning was issued.

2:53 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped at Adams and Main for no passenger-side brake light and no third brake light. A verbal warning was issued.

3:04 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped at Second and Briggs for no driver-side brake light. A verbal warning was issued.

3:35 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped at Seventh and Van Buen for a “slow and go.” A verbal warning was issued.

3:49 p.m. — Suspicious activity was reported at Harper Brush Plant 1.

4:13 p.m. — Paul Christopher was arrested in the 400 block of West Madison for sexual assault-third.

4:43 p.m. — Attempted burglary was reported at North Bay Apartments.

6:02 p.m. — A suspicious vehicle was reported at C and Burlington.

7:51 p.m. — Police investigated a harassment complaint in the 200 block of South 15th.

8:37 p.m. — A hit-and-run accident near Torino’s Pizza and Steakhouse was reported.

9:36 p.m. — A complaint about parking in the 200 block of East Briggs was received.

9:39 p.m. — A bad weather report was received from the National Weather Service.

9:53 p.m. — Police assisted the Fairfield Fire Department in the 200 block of West Briggs.

10:27 p.m. — Ottumwa police reported a missing person.

11:06 p.m. — Police assisted the sheriff’s office in the 2100 block of West Burlington.

11:13 p.m. — Police assisted the ambulance in the 600 block of East Adams.

 

Saturday

12:17 a.m. — Juveniles in the 900 block of West Tyler were advised of a noise complaint.

1:04 a.m. — A vehicle was stopped for no light at Second and Main. A verbal warning was issued.

7:55 a.m. — Suspicious activity was reported at Harrison and Highland.

9:20 a.m. — An alarm sounded at a business in the 100 block of North Main.

10:50 a.m. — Anthony Delee Carrell, 24, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was arrested at Main and Broadway and charged with public consumption or intoxication.

10:39 a.m. — A hit-and-run was reported.

12:16 p.m. — Police performed a welfare check in the 800 bloci of West Washington.

1:41 p.m. — Police helped push a vehicle off the roadway in the 200 block of East Fillmore.

2:22 p.m. — A civil issue was reported in the 100 block of East Grimes.

2:32 p.m. — A 911 misdial was received.

2:59 p.m. — A theft was reported in the Fairfield Line parking lot.

3:10 p.m. — A lost-and-found item was reported at Cider House.

4:18 p.m. — Ottumwa police reported a missing person.

4:23 p.m. — A dog bite was reported on West Grimes.

4:56 p.m. — An animal was reported in the 2100 block of North B.

5:07 p.m. — Larceny theft was reported at Jefferson County Jail.

5:10 p.m. — A utilities hazard was reported at C and Lowe.

7:30 p.m. — A theft was reported at Casey’s General Store on Libertyville Road.

8:07 p.m. — A verbal warning was issued for a traffic violation at Main and Buchanan.

9:49 p.m. — A verbal warning was issued for a headlight outage at 16th and Grimes.

10 p.m. — A verbal warning was issued for a headlight outage at Brookville and Grimes.

10:03 p.m., — A prank 911 call reported a structure fire.

10:42 a.m. — Extra patrol was requested after subjects were seen of the rooftop in the 50 block of West Broadway.

11:20 p.m. — Police performed a welfare check in the 200 block of East Buchanan.

 

SHERIFF

Jefferson County Sheriffs Office reports the following:

 

Oct. 27

5:48 a.m. — A 2010 Ford Taurus driven by Kaitlin Marie Sedore, 25, of Birmingham, was northbound on Highway 1 when it struck a deer in the roadway. Damages were estimated at $5,000.

 

Nov. 6

6:10 p.m. — Carla Ann Stanzyk, 51, of Colfax, was driving a 2014 Ford Focus east on Highway 34 when it hit a deer near mile marker 217. Damage was estimated at $10,000.

 

Saturday

2:34 a.m. — Justin Douglas Swanson, 19, of Marion, was arrested in the 2000 block of Libertyville Road and charged with operating while intoxicated-first offense, driving while suspended, revoked, canceled or denied, and possession of alcohol under the legal age-second offense.

 

Sunday

2:14 a.m. — Christopher Michael Terrell, 45, of Batavia, was arrested at Davis and Fourth in Batavia and charged with operating while intoxicated-first offense and excessive speed.

3:06 p.m. — A 2012 Ford Fiesta driven by Dallas Eugene Peebler, 18, Fairfield, attempted to turn north from 185th Street onto Jasmine Avenue, but said he was traveling too fast, was unable to negotiate the corner and entered the west ditch. The vehicle received damages estimated at $5,000. No injuries were reported to the driver or the passenger.
