POLICE

The Fairfield Police Department reports the following logged at dispatch:

Tuesday

6:32 a.m. — Police investigated a report of shoplifting at Walmart.

7:50 a.m. — Police performed a search.

7:57 a.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

8:11 a.m. — A civil dispute was reported in the 400 block of North Sixth. The bank currently owns the property and any people found on or in the residence is trespassing.

8:19 a.m. — Police assisted a disabled vehicle.

8:41 p.m. — Police were asked to check on the welfare of a driver in the 2000 block of South Main.

9:12 a.m. — An arrest warrant was served at Jefferson County Jail.

9:25 a.m. — A larceny theft was reported in the 100 block of Iowa Avenue.

11:23 a.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

11:39 a.m. — A verbal warning for loud exhaust and expired insurance was issued at D and Madison.

1:39 p.m. — Suspicious activity was reported in the 600 block of South Fifth.

3:05 p.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

3:31 p.m. — A verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign was issued at Sixth and Jefferson.

3:37 p.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

4:39 p.m. — Theft was reported at Dexter Laundry.

5:01 p.m. — Tyrone Octavious Marshall, 27, of Fairfield, was cited for driving while suspended, revoked, canceled or denied in the 300 block of West Burlington.

6:12 p.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

6:33 p.m. — Police assisted the Ottumwa Police Department.

7:11 p.m. — A verbal warning for a stop sign violation and no insurance was issued at Monroe and Sixth.

8:09 p.m. — A verbal warning for speed was issued at Main and Harrison.

9:21 p.m. — Rylee Christine Proper, 19, of Stockport, was arrested and charged with fifth-degree theft at Walmart.

10:53 p.m. — A verbal warning was issued for a traffic violation at Burlington and Second.

11:15 p.m. — A verbal warning was issued for a nonworking license plate light in the 900 block of South Main.

11:22 p.m. — Police were asked to assist the sheriff’s office in checking on the welfare of a citizen.

Wednesday

3:06 a.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

4:46 a.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

 

SHERIFF

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports the following:

Monday

5:21 p.m. — Melvin Harry Mullikin, 80, of Packwood, was traveling in the 2700 block of Highway 1 South, when he lost control of his 1996 Ford Ranger pickup during a rain and wind storm. The vehicle struck a mailbox and entered the ditch. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,500. Damage to the mailbox was estimated at $100. No injuries were reported.
