POLICE

Fairfield Police Department reports the following logged at Dispatch:

 

Thursday

8:15 a.m. — James Gregory Rayburn, 29, of Fairfield, was arrested at Fifth and Washington. He was charged with driving while barred.

8:43 a.m. — Disorderly conduct was reported in the 200 block of South 23rd.

9:54 a.m. — Suspicious activity was reported in the 500 block of West Madison.

11:42 a.m. — A lost-and-found item was reported on the Maharishi University of Management campus.

1:51 p.m. — Police assisted the Iowa Department of Human Services in the 200 block of East Pierce.

1:57 p.m. — An alarm sounded at a business in the 1700 block of South Main.

2:23 p.m. — An animal was reported in the 2000 block of Libertyville Road.

2:48 p.m. — A verbal warning was issued for no plates at Seventh and Sunny.

3:17 p.m. — A lost-and-found item was reported at the post office.

3:23 p.m. — Police assisted the Keokuk County Sheriff Office.

5:14 p.m. — A lost-and-found item was reported in the 1600 block of West Burlington.

5:59 p.m. — A report was received of children left unsupervised in a vehicle in the 2700 block of West Burlington.

7:41 p.m. — Bryan Curtis Dowd, 28, of Fairfield, was arrested at Sixth and Grimes. He was charged with driving while revoked/Chapter 321J.

8:15 p.m. — A misdialed 911 call was received.

10 p.m. — A verbal warning about equipment was issued in the 800 block of West Burlington.

 

Friday

4:29 p.m. — Police investigated fraud (credit card/automated teller machine) was reported in the 1600 block of West Burlington.

 

SHERIFF

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported the following:

 

Thursday

12:02 a.m. — Jeremy Allen Strayer, 40, of Keosauqua, was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass on Osage Avenue, 0.6 miles south of 235th Street. A deer entered the roadway. Strayer slammed on the brakes and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the east ditch and rolled onto its top. Strayer was ejected and walked to a residence for help. He was transported by Midwest Ambulance to Jefferson County Health Center. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,000. Strayer was charged with driving while suspended and fraudulent use of registration.

4:20 a.m. — Shanae M. McKnight, 34, of South Holland, Illinois, was driving a 2012 Audi Q7 westbound on U.S. Highway 34 in the left lane. McKnight stated a semi tractor trailer was along side her in the right lane and began to move into her lane. She lost control, left the road to the left, went into the median and rolled numerous times before coming to rest on the driver side in the eastbound lanes of travel. McKnight was transported by Midwest Ambulance to Jefferson County Health Center. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $24,000. McKnight was charged with no valid driver’s license.
