Fairfield Police Department responded to an accident at 3:49 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of South Main Street and East Madison Avenue. Florence Ellen Cornelius, 86, of Birmingham, driving a 2000 Buick LeSabre south on Main Street came through the intersection, did not see a bicyclist traveling in the same direction, and made contact with the bicycle. Corwin Paul Brook, 30, of 2169 Key Blvd., Suite A, landed about 10 feet from the bicycle. He was transported to Jefferson County Health Center by ambulance with possible injuries. Cornelius was cited for unsafe passing.

University BP gas station, 500 N. Second St., reported 11:24 a.m. Sunday, $20.40 of fuel was stolen.
