Polishville hosts tractors

PHOTO SUBMITTED Twenty-five tractors on the Sept. 21 tractor crusade out of Mount Pleasant stopped at the Polishville Community Center for lunch.

The Polishville Community Center hosted the Mount Pleasant Tractor Crusade, serving lunch to the drivers, their entourage and guests who stopped to see the tractors Sept. 21.

“Saturday was a big day for Polishville,” said Bill Peck, president of the Polishville Association.

Peck said the tractors left Mount Pleasant at 8:30 a.m. and made their way through Trenton, Wayland and skirted Brighton before arriving at noon for lunch at Polishville Community Center.

“The tractors came rolling in,” said Peck. “A total of 25 tractors arrived. On them were, of course, the drivers, wives, friends and children. What a pleasant event!”

The menu included loose-meat hamburgers, Polish sausage sandwiches, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, tomatoes, coleslaw, pickled beets, homemade pies and tea or coffee.

“They were hungry and ready to eat,” said Peck. “With helpers and guests, we served 54 dinners.”

Peck recalled the tractor crusade group also visited Polishville Community Center for dinner two years ago.

“You can tell they know a good eating place once you’ve been there before,” he said. “We’ll welcome them back in another year or two. It was so great for off-the-main-road — a gravel road — which leads many events to Polishville!”
