DES MOINES — The Des Moines Symphony will perform its 21st annual Yankee Doodle Pops concert and it will be televised on Mediacom, giving Iowans two opportunities to watch it on Friday evening, July 4, and again on Saturday, July 5.

This year’s family-friendly concert has the theme “Our Greatest Generation — Honoring America’s Heroes.”

Viewers in all Mediacom areas will find the 90-minute concert program on channel 22 with primetime viewing beginning at 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

Under the direction of Maestro Joseph Giunta, the Des Moines Symphony’s Yankee Doodle Pops is a 4th of July tradition that draws more than 100,000 people to the live performance on the grounds of the Iowa State Capitol.

Mediacom’s telecast is statewide and will include the symphony’s finale choreographed with fireworks.
