Post-harvest marketing workshop set

Aug 29, 2017

NEW LONDON — A “Launch and Land Your Post-Harvest Marketing Plan: Winning the Game” workshop is set for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 in the New London Community Hall in New London.

During the workshop, farmers will gain a greater understanding of the seasonality of post-harvest crop prices, explore the marketing tools available to capture post-harvest premiums and evaluate the risk of holding unpriced bushels in storage.

The session is packed with advice to help farmers write and execute a post-harvest marketing plan, and attendees can learn to use the market signals that help in marking marketing decisions after harvest.

Topics will include: writing a post-harvest marketing plan; post-harvest exit strategies; what is a “carry” and why it is important; a chance to practice exit strategies and tools in a fast-paced and fun market simulation; and more.

For more information about the workshop, contact Ed Kordick of the Iowa Farm Bureau at 515-225-5433 or ekordick@ifbf.org.

For reservations to attend the workshop, call the Henry County Farm Bureau at 319-385-3174 or the Des Moines County Farm Bureau at 319-752-2729.
