Rain causes sewer overflows

On Saturday, Fairfield experienced sanitary sewer overflows that resulted in 136,315 gallons of untreated wastewater to be discharged.

The problem was caused by 1.05 inches of rainfall that fell that morning. The discharges were from manhole 17-29 north of the wastewater facility that flow into Crow Creek; manhole 4-8 located south of the country club; and manhole 15-14 which is located on the north side of Libertyville Road and south of Jefferson County Park.
