Rally for peace; SALT lunch; Soup supper; God's Portion sale; Turkey supper

Rally for peace set Saturday

A Prayer and Rosary Rally for Peace is planned from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday in Fairfield’s Central Park.

The event is part of 1,500 rallies being held nationwide.

Everyone is welcome.


Medicare Part D Drug Plan program set for SALT lunch

Senior Adults Living Triumphantly, known as the SALT group, will meet for a potluck lunch at noon Thursday at First Baptist Church.

A covered dish luncheon will be at noon. Those attending are asked to bring a food dish to share and their personal table service.

Following the meal, a special program about the Medicare 2017 Part D Drug Plan is planned for 1 p.m.

Candi Tibbels, the daughter of Bill and Dorothy Rathbun of Fairfield, is a volunteer at the Delaware County Senior Center in Ohio. The center helps educate individuals so they can make knowledgeable decisions about their Medicare alternatives.

Those planning to attend are asked to call the church at 472-5205 so a sufficient number of handouts will be available.

The program was originally scheduled in September, but was postponed.


Soup supper set Thursday

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will hold its first soup supper of the season from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Soups, Kenny’s Cornbread, pies, and relishes will be served for a free-will offering.

Everyone is invited to attend.


God’s Portion sale planned

KEOSAUQUA — Lebanon United Methodist Church, west of Keosauqua, will have its annual God’s Portion Sale and Auction Oct. 24.

The meal will be served at 5 p.m., with the auction to follow.


Annual turkey supper Oct. 25

OLLIE — Prairie View United Methodist Church will have its annual turkey supper Oct. 25.

Serving begins at 4:30 p.m.

The menu will feature turkey and all the trimmings, as well as a salad bar and homemade pies.

A free-will offering will be colected for dine-in meals. Take-out orders will be $8. Orders can be placed by calling the church at 641-667-2502.
