Register for ‘Prehistory Along the Des Moines River’ program

KEOSAUQUA — A program covering the Prehistory Along the Des Moines River will be presented at 10 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Main Lodge in Lacey-Keosauqua State Park.

Join Mark Anderson, archaeology research specialist, as he gives an overview of 12,000 years of human occupation in the Des Moines valley. Beginning with the end of the last ice age to first contact with Euro-Americans, Anderson will share about variety of human activity along the Des Moines River. He also will cover the quarrying, manufacture, and use of chipped stone tools with a demonstration of flint knapping.

The program is an official Des Moines River Water Trails event co-sponsored by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Jefferson County Conservation.
