BLOOMFIELD — The Fairfield girls’ basketball team moved back up to .500 with a 49-36 non-conference victory against Davis County Tuesday in Bloomfield.

Junior Marisa Repp’s 19 points and six rebounds led the Trojans, who were coming off a close loss to 15th-ranked Washington last Friday. Senior teammate Sidney Baumann, who has scored in double-figures four times this season, tallied 16 points to go with three assists.

Repp also had a major role in holding Davis County’s star player Riley Eakins to four points in the second half and 16 points overall. Coming into the game, Eakins ranked fifth in scoring and second in rebounding in all of Class 3A.

With Eakins kept in check, the Trojans held Davis County scoreless for a seven-minute stretch in the third quarter, where the Mustangs scored just four points. Fairfield turned a 19-16 halftime deficit into a 33-23 lead after the third quarter as they rolled off 17 points in the period. The visitors tacked on another 16 in the final period to put the game away for good.

“Good road win last night for the Trojans. Our defense was terrific in the third quarter,” said Fairfield head coach Mick Flattery. “Really good balance from all 10 gals playing their roles very well.”

Fairfield had 19 turnovers in the game but more than made up for it with its own takeaways on defense. The Trojans nabbed 12 steals overall, with Baumann and Repp totaling four apiece and Sydney Burnett stealing three.

The Trojans also had their best game of the season from the three throw line, where they hit 9 of 11 attempts. Repp and Baumann combined to go 7 of 9 from the charity stripe.

Also for Fairfield, McKenna Ledger scored five points, Hanna Greiner totaled four points and five boards, and Burnett finished with four points and three assists. Brittany Kurtz hauled in a team-high seven rebounds.

With the loss, Davis County moves to 4-4 overall.

The Trojans (3-3, 0-2 SEC) will have their first chance to get above the .500 mark since week two when they host Van Buren (5-1) Friday.
