Santa at festivities before ‘Nutcracker’

Dec 01, 2016

The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center just caught word from the North Pole that Santa will make a special appearance from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Friday as part of the free preshow holiday festivities for the sold-out Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker.”

The “Nutcracker” performance begins at 7:30 p.m.; tickets to the show are not required to partake in the preshow Christmas activities. All preshow festivities are free and open to the public.

Santa will be checking his list and will be offering candy canes to those kids who have been good during the year.

“If you don’t think you’ve been good this year, you have a couple days to turn around,” said Kadie Dennison, marketing and development manager at the center. “Santa wants to see you as part of our Christmas party before the sold-out ‘Nutcracker’ ballet from Moscow, Russia. ... join in all the reindeer games.”

Joining Santa will be the Sondheim Carolers, featuring Torie Hollingsworth, Will Hart and Friends. The Sondheim Carolers invite anyone to join in the festive singing.

A hot chocolate bar will have candy canes, marshmallows, chocolate chips, cinnamon and whipped cream.

Lastly, the center will be offering face painting so kids can get their nose red like Rudolph or their beard white like Santa.

The center will have a drawing for four tickets to “Rudolph – The Musical” coming to the Sondheim stage at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 13.
