Schaefer-Weaton joins IHCC board

OTTUMWA — The Indian Hills Community College Board of Trustees welcomed Lori Schaefer-Weaton to the nine-member board.

Schaefer-Weaton was officially installed as a board member at a retreat earlier this month.

She is the president of Agri-Industrial Plastics in Fairfield and recently oversaw a major expansion project of the company that has been in business for nearly four decades. Schaefer-Weaton joined Agri-Industrial Plastics as director of business development in 2004.

She replaces Judith Cox on the IHCC board. Cox served the Fairfield area for six years before resigning last month.

Milestones AAA has new CEO

DAVENPORT — The Board of Directors for Milestones Area Agency on Aging announces the hiring of its new chief executive officer, Becky J. Passman.

Passman joined the agency this month. The position was held previously by Christa Merritt, who resigned earlier this year.

Passman will be overseeing the organization’s daily operation, leading policy efforts and meeting short- and long-term planning goals for agency programs and activities.

Milestones is the aging and disability resource center for a 17-county service area located in southeast Iowa with offices in Burlington, Davenport and Ottumwa. The CEO position is responsible for a $6 million-budget, the management of 170 employees and the service delivery to aging Iowans and adults with disabilities living in Appanoose, Clinton, Davis, Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Lucas, Mahaska, Monroe, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren, Wapello and Wayne counties. Milestones provides services such as senior meals, caregiver support, options counseling, and information/assistance along with other programs to approximately 13,000 clients through registered services and another 75,000 who receive information through community education, health fairs and outreach.

Before joining Milestones, Passman was the administration and grants manager for the city of Davenport CitiBus transit system and, before that, Iowa Quad Cities transit coordinator/project manager for the Bi-State Regional Commission. She received her master’s degree for public administration from Drake University in Des Moines, bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, and associate’s degree from Blackhawk College in Moline, Illinois.
