The Greater Jefferson County Foundation held its annual scholarship picnic Tuesday at Jefferson County Park. The scholarship picnic allows the Fairfield High School recipients to meet the Foundation Board Members and some of the families who have donated to the scholarships over the years. Scholarships totaled over $68,000 for the spring of 2018. Those donor families in attendance included Lou and Barb Thoma, his sister Patsy Thoma Wheeler, along with Betty Crile and David Neff. The scholarship award winners each introduced their family members present and spoke about the school they will attend in the fall, their major, and which scholarship they received. Students and the scholarship they received are, from left, Shawn Dorman (Jim Leyden), Alie Kensett (Jeanne Thoma), Corynn Klehm (2017 award winner shared her freshman year experience), Taylor Blomme (Jefferson County Pork Producers and Nady-Ag/Business), Kristen Daugherty (Nady Music), Destiny Stetson (Ralph Perry), Maddie Smith (John Jackson), Andrew Alonso (Ralph Perry), Gannon Courtright (Adrian & Karlena “Dub” Thoma), James Lyman (Ralph Perry) and Amanda Carminhato (Jack Sellars).
