Scouts honor Flag Day

Jul 05, 2018

Benett Boatright, left, holds the Philadelphia Light Horse Troop Flag during the Flag Day Ceremony June 26 in Central Park while Kensley Fligs, center, and Payton Sirdoreus stand beside him. The ceremony, hosted by Fairfield Elks with assistance from Boy Scout Troop 108 and Girl Scout Service Unit 941, educated the public about the history of flags from the colonial period to the present day. The Philadelphia Light Horse Troop Flag of 1775 was significant because it was the first to employ 13 stripes, representing the 13 original colonies.
