Senior meals; School meals

Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals

ongregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

The menu for the coming week is:

Monday — beef meatball, brown gravy, scalloped potatoes, creamed peas, apricot halves.

Tuesday — cook’s choice, with dessert.

Wednesday — baked chicken breast, oven-browned potatoes, broccoli Normandy vegetable blend, blushing peaches.

Thursday — hearty beef vegetable soup, spinach-mandarin orange salad, diced pears, chocolate chip bar.

March 30 — all nutrition centers closed for Good Friday.

Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.

Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield school meals

No meals will be served in the Fairfield Community School District Monday through March 30. The district will be on spring break Monday through March 30.
