Senior site meals, Fairfield school meals: May 28-June 1, 2018

Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals

Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

The menu for the coming week is:

Monday — Memorial Day. All nutrition centers are closed.

Tuesday — chef salad with turkey, Harvard beets, diced cantaloupe, banana-cinnamon-oatmeal bar.

Wednesday — pot roast, oven-roasted new potatoes, grilled onions, roasted sliced carrots, strawberries, two vanilla wafer cookies.

Thursday — chicken salad sandwich on wheat, potato salad, mixed green lettuce salad with dressing, orange wedges, banana pudding.

June 1 — menu not available.

Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.

Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield school meals

Fairfield Community School District has listed its lunch menu for the coming week.

Preschools:

Monday — no school.

Tuesday — breakfast: yogurt with graham snacks. Lunch: meatball sub, baked beans, applesauce.

Wednesday — breakfast: mini doughnuts. Lunch: chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, mixed fruit.

Thursday — breakfast: pancake on a stick. Lunch: cheese pizza, steamed broccoli, fresh fruit.

Friday — menu not available.

Elementary schools:

Monday — no school.

Tuesday — breakfast: yogurt with graham snacks. Lunch: meatball sub, baked beans, celery sticks, applesauce.

Wednesday — breakfast: mini doughnuts. Lunch: chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, baby carrots, frozen fruit cup.

Thursday — breakfast: pancake on a stick. Lunch: cheese pizza, steamed broccoli, cucumber slices, fresh fruit.

Friday — cook’s choice.

Fairfield Middle School:

Monday — no school.

Tuesday — breakfast: yogurt with graham snacks. Lunch: meatball sub or barbecue rib patty on bun, baked beans, applesauce, fresh garden bar.

Wednesday — breakfast: mini doughnuts. Lunch: chicken nuggets or shredded beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, frozen fruit cup, fresh garden bar.

Thursday — breakfast: pancake on a stick. Lunch: cheese pizza or pepperoni pizza, steamed broccoli, fresh fruit, fresh garden bar.

Friday — cook’s choice.

Fairfield High School:

Monday — no school.

Tuesday — breakfast: cook’s choice. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — cheese pizza. The Grill — pepperoni pizza, sausage pizza. Sides: savory carrots, pears.

Wednesday — breakfast: cook’s choice. Lunch: The Bar — pasta. Sides — steamed broccoli, garlic breadstick, rosy applesauce.

Thursday — breakfast: cook’s choice. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — sloppy joe on bun. Cultural Cuisine — Italian grilled chicken on bun. Sides — corn, peaches.

Friday — breakfast: cook’s choice. Lunch: cook’s choice.
