Renee Erickson, left, leads a Tai Chi class Thursday morning at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center. Also pictured are, from Erickson going clockwise, Candida Scharf, Lyndanna Ottoviani, Betty Roach and Marilyn Adler. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art, but in modern times it is more often practiced as an exercise program to heal organs. Erickson leads the group through stretches that exercise the heart, lungs, spleen, kidneys, liver and stomach. She said there’s no pain or even strain from the movements. “It really affects your mood,” she said. “By the time we’re done and ready for lunch, the group says, ‘It’s a great day!’”
