Fairfield was quiet this morning, even along the railroad tracks, as residents woke to cold temperatures and a thin blanket of snow. According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, the low for tonight is 1, with bitterly cold wind chills of negative 10 to negative 23 continuing through late Tuesday morning across much of the area. Tuesday’s high is expected to be 16, with wind chill values as low as minus 15, and scattered flurries after noon.
