Singing Cedars School, Fairfield’s Waldorf-inspired early education school, hosted its annual Mayfaire Saturday.

An interesting thing about this year’s fair is that it was the first year a kindergarten graduate of the school was old enough to be Mayfaire queen, an honor that went to Ella Phillips.

Mayfaire celebrates the beginning of spring and a reminder that warm days are ahead. Children get the chance to dance around a May Pole decorated with flowers on top and ribbons that hang below. Young and old alike wear flowers while dancing around the pole. Attendees to the Mayfaire enjoy a day of making flower crowns, riding horses, building fairy houses and sharing a meal.

Singing Cedars School has undertaken a fundraising campaign to upgrade its facilities and increase its classroom space.
