Skate Fest set July 22

OTTUMWA — Community 1st Credit Union will host the 2017 C1st Skate Fest at 3 p.m. July 22 at the Ottumwa Skate Park near Market Street and the riverfront.

The fifth annual skateboard, scooter and BMX competition will feature local food vendors, music, games, giveaways and prizes. Professional Division BMX riders will perform stunts.

The event will coincide with Ottumwa’s “Food Truck Frenzy” promotion on the Market Street Bridge.

Skate Fest combines all competitors sorted by age, 11-and-under, ages 12-to-14, 15-18 and 19-and-over. Entrants can register for one or both “street course” and “best trick” events. Prizes will be awarded for both events. Judging will be based on style, consistency and type of tricks.

Participants are required to wear protective skating gear and helmets.

Participants will receive a Skate Fest T-shirt subject to availability.

Registration for the event is free. Early registration is encouraged and can be completed online at www.c1stcu.com. Forms can be returned to: Community 1st Credit Union, PO Box 737, Ottumwa 52501 or emailed to memberservice@c1stcu.com.

Registration also will take place starting at 2 p.m. the day of the event in the Skate Park.

The rain date will be July 29.
