Southeast Iowa Start to Farm Group meeting planned Aug. 28

WASHINGTON, Iowa — Washington County Extension and Outreach will be hosting a Start to Farm Group meeting from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Washington County Extension office.

Guest speaker Chad Hart, crop market specialist and extension economist, will provide an interactive and educational program on grain marketing. He will explain different tools available for producers to market their crops and when each should be used. He also will set up an online simulation for all who are interested to practice the skills learned. The simulation portion will run over several months and participants will be updated at future meetings.

A light meal will be provided.

The meeting is open to all beginning farmers from southeast Iowa, specifically those farming 10 years or less.

The event is free, but contact the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811 or nadrian@iastate.edu by noon Aug. 28 so organizer know how many attendees to expect.
