State help available for Van Buren County residents impacted by storms, floods

Jul 16, 2013

KEOSAUQUA — State Rep. Curt Hanson of Fairfield said assistance is now available for those impacted by flooding or storm damage in Van Buren County.

“With recent storms, I encourage anyone affected to contact the Van Buren County Resource Center at 319-293-3722 and find out what assistance is available for them,” said Hanson. “I want to ensure that all impacted by the storms will receive adequate assistance to help recover.”

The Iowa Individual Assistance Program provides grants of up to $5,000 for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and for the expense of temporary housing.

Original receipts are required for those seeking reimbursement for actual expenses related to storm recovery.

Grant application and instructions are also available on-line by clicking the Disaster Assistance link at www.dhs.iowa.gov or by calling 866-434-4692.
