Stockport, Birmingham

May 21, 2013

The Stockport State Central Bank, Stockport City Hall, Stockport Post Office and the Stockport Public Library will be closed Monday for Memorial Day. The bank, post office and city hall will re-open May 28, and the library will re-open May 29.

Volunteers are needed to help raise and lower flags along the street for Avenue of Flags Monday. Volunteers are asked to meet in front of city hall at 7 a.m. to raise the flags and at 4 p.m. to lower the flags.

The flags fly four times a year, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July and Veterans Day.

The Stockport Public Library has announced its summer reading program “DIG into Reading” beginning in July. Kids will dig into reading some great books, as well as learn to make the world beautiful through digging and gardening.
