Summer food program continues for all youth

Aug 04, 2017

Fairfield Community School District’s free summer lunch program is continuing next week.

The menu includes:

Monday — cheese-filled breadsticks, marinara, fresh fruit, milk.

Tuesday — walking taco, lettuce and cheese, raisins, milk.

Wednesday — chicken patty on a bun, celery sticks with dip, peaches, milk.

Thursday — pizza, broccoli with dip, fresh fruit, milk.

Aug. 11 — meatball sub, baby carrots, strawberries, milk.

Visit the school district’s website at www.fairfieldsfuture.org to check on updates to the menu.

Any child through age 18 can have a free, healthy lunch; a child does not have to qualify for free lunches during the school year to eat the free summer lunches.

Adults over 18 can purchase a meal for $3.50, but children are served lunch first.

Lunch is served:

• 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 at Fairfield Middle School;

• 11:30 a.m. to noon in the Fairfield Public Library meeting room; and

• 12:15-12:45 p.m. in Roosevelt Community Recreation Center Room 3;

• The Howard Park meal site is closed at this time.

Children do not have to eat lunch at the same location each day.

The Fairfield school district’s free summer lunch program continues through Aug. 25.

The free local lunches are part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s nationwide Summer Food Service Program.

For information, call Fairfield school district food services director Stephanie Hawkins at 472-2655 Ext. 6703.
