Summer lunch menu updated

Aug 01, 2017
Chicken nuggets are on the free summer lunch menu Friday along with corn, fresh fruit and milk. Any child through age 18 is eligible for the free lunches.

Fairfield Community School District has updated this week’s menu for the free summer lunch program.

The menu includes:

Wednesday — beef and cheese nachos, salsa, raisins, milk.

Thursday — mini corn dogs, baby carrots, applesauce, milk.

Friday — chicken nuggets, corn, fresh fruit, milk.

Any child through age 18 can have a free, healthy lunch; a child does not have to qualify for free lunches during the school year to eat the free summer lunches.

Adults over 18 can purchase a meal for $3.50, but children are served lunch first.

Lunch is served:

• 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 at Fairfield Middle School;

• 11:30 a.m. to noon in the Fairfield Public Library meeting room; and

• 12:15-12:45 p.m. in Roosevelt Community Recreation Center Room 3;

• The Howard Park meal site is closed at this time.

Children do not have to eat lunch at the same location each day.

The Fairfield school district’s free summer lunch program continues through Aug. 25.

The free local lunches are part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s nationwide Summer Food Service Program.

For information, call the Fairfield Community School District food services director Stephanie Hawkins at 472-2655 Ext. 6703.
