Jun 30, 2017

Fairfield Community School District’s free summer lunch program is continuing next week.

The menu includes:

Monday: mini corn dogs, baby carrots, Awesome Sauce, milk.

Tuesday: no meal served in observance of Fourth of July.

Wednesday: beef and cheese nachos, salsa, raisins, milk.

Thursday: toasted ravioli, marinara, apple slices, milk.

Friday: chicken nuggets, corn, cantalope, milk.

Any child through age 18 can have a free, healthy lunch; a child does not have to qualify for free lunches during the school year to eat the free summer lunches.

Adults over 18 can purchase a meal for $3.50, but children are served lunch first.

Lunch is served:

• 11-11:20 a.m. at Howard Park;

• 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 at Fairfield Middle School;

• 11:30 a.m. to noon at Fairfield Public Library; and

• 12:15-12:45 p.m. at Roosevelt Community Recreation Center. Children do not have to eat lunch at the same location each day.

The school district’s free summer lunch program continues through Aug. 25.

The free local lunches are part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s nationwide Summer Food Service Program.
