Summer lunch program continues

Jul 07, 2017

Fairfield Community School District’s free summer lunch program is continuing next week.

The menu includes:

Monday — cheese-filled breadsticks with marinara, peaches, milk.

Tuesday — chili cheese max wrap, baby carrots, pears, milk.

Wednesday — walking taco, lettuce and cheese, mixed dried fruit, milk.

Thursday — cheese pizza, celery sticks with dip, apple slices, milk.

Friday — crispy chicken patty on a bun, potato wedges, orange slices, milk.

Any child through age 18 can have a free, healthy lunch; a child does not have to qualify for free lunches during the school year to eat the free summer lunches.

Adults over 18 can purchase a meal for $3.50, but children are served lunch first.

Lunch is served:

• 11-11:20 a.m. at Howard Park;

• 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 at Fairfield Middle School;

• 11:30 a.m. to noon at Fairfield Public Library; and

• 12:15-12:45 p.m. at Roosevelt Community Recreation Center. Children do not have to eat lunch at the same location each day.

The Fairfield school district’s free summer lunch program continues through Aug. 25.

The free local lunches are part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s nationwide Summer Food Service Program.

For information, call Fairfield Community School District food services director Stephanie Hawkins at 472-2655 Ext. 6703.
