Van Buren senior linebacker Curtis Thomas has been named to the Class A District 5 first team.

As the leading tackler on Van Buren, Thomas helped his team to a 2-5 mark in the district and 2-7 record overall this fall. The senior totaled a team-leading 86 tackles — 52 solos — and one sack.

The Warriors also landed four players on District 5’s second team, including junior Casey Jones, sophomores Brandon Plecker and Garrett Saunders and freshman Justin Hagans. Jones made 63 stops, Plecker caught 11 balls for 156 yards, Saunders completed 20 passes for 386 yards and Hagans helped open up running lanes on the line.
