‘Through the Eyes of the River’ paddling event set

“Through the Eyes of the River” is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 15 on the Des Moines River from Austin Park to Bentonsport Boat Ramp in Van Buren County.

Participants will paddle down the Des Moines River and hear the river’s biography from its geologic origins to its present-day status and everything in between.

Participants will stop several times along the way to hear various parts of the river’s history.

Preregistration required.

Float trips are open to all, but children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Canoes will be available for loan if participants do not have their own canoe or kayak.
