Time to put principle ahead of politics

By James Lee Elliott | Sep 28, 2017

To the editor:

There is a moral and spiritual war for the souls of our children being waged within this community and this war must be fought by preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, prayer and obedience to God’s word.

The 21st century socialistic interpretation of “separation of church and state,” which we have just witnessed within this community on September 12th, is one of the greatest hoaxes ever perpetrated on a free people.

It is time to put principle over politics and there is no reason for any God-fearing Republican or Democrat to remain silent.

There is no biblical model whereby God demands His church or ministers to remain complacent or silent. But too many have wrongly allowed secular voices to convince them that government is an entity with which Christians and ministers are to avoid any involvement.

Adolf Hitler commented on the efforts of German evangelicals and clergy to oppose his agenda. He said, “Their task is to prepare souls for heaven. They must leave earth to me.” What a job he did on earth without intervention as too many just sat in their pews and sang a little louder to keep from hearing those who were crying out for help.

My friends, many of our children, parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers, associates, and support staff are crying out for help in this community!

The same technique of propaganda, fake news, ridicule and demeaning comments and bullying that the Nazis used against the Jews are the very same things being used today. This same axis of evil is using anything in its power to assure that evangelicals and clergy stay in their church, concern themselves with heaven and leave earth and our public schools to them.

This is not a battle that we wanted but has been forced upon us by the social engineering agendas of a “people’s party” that only leads to more tragedy of a broken culture leaving too many defenseless, held hostage in their own public school or exiled in their our community.

We are witnessing the fact that public education when left alone, cannot do it alone. Do not be confused by what socialism promises and what it actually is. Socialism is based on control and power, not the welfare of the people! This is what is fueling the fires of school choice within this community and this nation, so do not blame it on Betsy DeVos or Donald Trump.

Jesus warned us in Matthew 18:6 of devastating consequences. “If anyone causes one of these little ones — those who believe in me — to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Does this not show God’s love and value for our children and grandchildren? We must not forget that our God is the author of our liberty, for if we continue to do so, in this community and this nation, we shall lose it!
