Wednesday night on the track at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, area residents brought out their “tough trucks” to see who could record the best time with two runs at the obstacle course that featured dirt moguls and ramps and massive tires to direct traffic and cushion sliding blows to the vehicles.

Renny McCarty won both the short-wheel base and long-wheel base competitions with a trailblazer he purchased in Kirkville, Iowa for $300 an hour before the contest.

McCarty said his strategy was to “just send it” and he expects to have a black eye in the coming days after smacking his helmet on the steering wheel on the landing to one of his aggressive jumps, although as a small business owner, he guaranteed he would be at work today at 6 a.m.
