Tractorcade rolls again

Jun 06, 2018

WASHINGTON, Iowa — Nearly 500 tractors are expected to participate in the 19th Annual WMT Great Eastern Iowa Tractorcade Sunday through June 13.

Tractorcade is an opportunity for tractor collectors and enthusiasts to celebrate their hobby and farm heritage together.

This year, the ride is based out of Washington, Iowa.

The ride begins Sunday at the Washington County Fairgrounds. That afternoon, the tractor drivers, along with their support teams register, have dinner, get acquainted, attend the driver’s meeting and review the safety rules that govern Tractorcade.

Monday, the tractors will roll out of Washington at 6:40 a.m. and travel through Keota, Wellman, Kalona, Hills and Riverside before returning to the fairgrounds. There will be a special concert in the square on Monday night.

Day two, Tuesday, the parade of tractors will leave the fairgrounds starting at 6:30 a.m. and pass through Brighton, Richland, Rubio, Ollie, Sigourney, Harper, Keota and West Chester on their way back to Washington.

The final day of driving will take Tractorcade 2018 on a loop to Lake Darling State Park and Brighton and head back to the fairgrounds.

Each day, the drivers will put on approximately 70-plus miles rolling through the countryside enjoying the scenery at 10-15 miles per hour. The public is invited to see the tractors on display in Sunday afternoon and as they ride through the area.
