Trail Maintenance Day set

Oct 18, 2012

The Jefferson County Trails Council is planning its first Trail Maintenance Day Saturday to spruce up the Fairfield Loop Trail and keep it looking in tip-top shape.

“We’re looking for volunteers who are willing to get their hands dirty to help maintain the trail,” said Stephen Pedrick of the trails council.

The day will be divided into two work shifts: the first from 9 a.m. to noon; and the second from 1-4 p.m., and volunteers are welcome to work either or both shifts.

“Let us know which you plan to attend,” said Pedrick, who can be reached at 919-5565 or sipedrick@gmail.com.

Volunteers should meet at the Maasdam Barns and are encouraged to bring gloves, shovels, bow saws and loppers.

In case of rain, Pedrick said to check the website www.jeffersoncountytrails.org for updates on the workday plans.

Information about the maintenance day also is available from Ryan Meyers at 573-489-8516 or ryoming@hotmail.com and the Jefferson County Trails Council at comments@jeffersoncountytrails.org.
