Trojan boys’ golf records best round of season

The final score still went Mt. Pleasant’s way, 171-183 Thursday evening at the Fairfield Golf and Country Club, but the Trojan boys golf team had it’s best nine-hold round of the season with three gentlemen scoring in the 40s and the other three shooting 50.

Match medalist was Jake Moffett of Mt. Pleasant who shot a 39, while Fairfield’s medalist was Jackson Weaton who had his best round of the year with a four-par round of 42.

Brad Smithburg also had his best round of 2018, shooting a 44 that was highlighted by a birdie and a par. Aaron Haines had three pars during his 47 and Josh Brewington, Drake Rippey and Jeremy Crile each submitted a 50 for their rounds.

Junior varsity

Cam Ledger led the jv team with a 51, while Blair Grunwald shot 60, Logan Adam 64 and Kyle Godwin 65.

Today they will play at The Elks in Keokuk.
