Coach’s comments

Trojan coach Jerrod Belzer said he has been really pleased with how both teams have performed in the early going.

“Obviously, Ashley [Bloomquist] and Mark [Diers] are both having standout seasons, but their teammates behind them have been running pretty well, too. We have a couple freshman in particular in Yana Gaskell and Alex Forrest who have stepped up and are having great seasons in their own right.”

The Trojans run again at 5 p.m. this afternoon in Fort Madison.

Their following meet is Tuesday in Mt. Pleasant. That race begins at 4:30 p.m. Runners from Fairfield Middle School will join the high school at both races.
