Trojan JV wins at Fort Madison

By Justin Webster | Oct 11, 2017

Friday night at Fort Madison, junior Tristin Waugh rushed 52 times for 328 yards and four scores in the Trojans’ 33-6 victory over the Bloodhounds.

Monday night in Fort Madison, Brittan Bowman, Noah Stone, and Josh Brewington combined for 41 carries, and 162 yards plus a touchdown for the junior varsity. Most importantly, the young Trojans also got a road win, 24-18.

As the quarterback, Bowman made 19 pass attempts, completing four for 34 yards. Carter Ferrell caught half of those four completions for 22 yards, while Caden Jones and Jackson Weaton each had one catch.

The real MVP was probably a collection of defensive players, who made big-time plays. Highlighting that group is Adon Mendoza who had six tackles, one for a loss, and a blocked punt to go with a 74-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Ben Johnston took Mendoza’s blocked punt in for his own touchdown, while Ferrell and Weaton combined for 13 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.

Anthony Ozborne tallied 3.5 tackles, including one for a loss, and Davin Meyers joined the fun with four tackles and a blocked punt.
