Trojan volleyball sweeps Demons at Washington

The Fairfield volleyball team improved to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the Southeast Conference with a 3-0 win at Washington Tuesday night.

“We cruised in the first set, but then we started trying some different plays and running different people in,” explained head coach Diana Drish. “I wasn’t worried and I did not call a single timeout, we just needed to keep moving forward, make sure our sets were on, play good defense and get up on blocks. I have a good defense back here.”

Game one

The Trojans jumped on the Demons out of the gate with a 25-10 victory in the first set.

Game two

Washington kept it closer, but it was all Fairfield in the second game, 25-19.

Game three

The Demons fought until the end and even sent it to extra points with the Trojans needing a 26-24 victory to close out their only SEC rivals to the north.

Monday, the Trojans jv team defeated Ottumwa 2-0 but fell to Danville in three games.

Ottumwa

Fairfield won game one in a battle, 25-21, before running away with the match in the second set, 25-10.

Allison Rebling 15-16 serving with eight aces, Abby Schaefer 12-13 hitting with one kill, Chloe Stever five assists, Olivia McClaran six digs, Olivia Jones two blocks, serve receive Gracee Lisk and Rebling 100-percent each.

Danville

The Trojans kept it close in game one but ended up falling 25-19. Fairfield did rebound in the second set with a 25-21 victory to push Danville to a third game, however, the Bears bested the Trojans in the decisive game, 15-11 to take the match.

Rebling and Carly Ferrel 9-9 serving, Ferrel 14-17 hitting with four kills, McClaran and Chloe Stever five digs, Stever eight assists, Olivia Jones six blocks and McClaran, Rebling and Lisk 100-percent serve receive.
