Trojans make sure Keokuk can’t

Photo by: JUSTIN WEBSTER/Ledger photo Fairfield’s Danae Drish was a force to be reckoned with Tuesday night versus Keokuk as the senior went 34-34 serving with nine aces, made 11 assists and was 75-percent in serve receive as the Trojans swept the Chiefs 25-7, 25-13 and 25-7.

The Fairfield volleyball team defeated Keokuk 3-0 Tuesday night at FHS to start the Southeast Conference schedule 1-0.


Game one

A great momentum boost for the Trojans out of the gate as they captured the first game 25-7 over the Chiefs.


Game two

More of the same from Fairfield as they continued to dominate their SEC rivals. While the Trojans did give up 13 points, they still closed out the Chiefs to move to the decisive third game with a fair amount of ease.


Game three

Another 25-7 score in favor of Fairfield closed out the contest with a bang for the home team who is now 4-0 on the young season after winning all three matches at home back on Aug. 23.



The Trojans will travel to Mt. Pleasant for their second match of the SEC season before hosting Fort Madison next Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.

Top servers: Danae Drish 34-34 with nine aces; Alison Godwin 9-9 with three aces and Chloe Stever 9-9 with two aces.


Top hitters

Godwin 12-13 with 10 kills; Kara Jeffrey 14-14 with seven kills; Grace Stever 8-8 with four kills and Julia Fritz had four kills.
